While waiting (...and waiting, and waiting, and waiting, and waiting...you're getting my point, right?) at the doctor's office yesterday I found a great little tip in Parenting magazine and we put it to good use at dinner tonight. I took several containers of playdoh and several of my stamps (I happened to grab a Christmas collection, but the girls didn't care) and the girls had a blast! They rolled out the playdoh and then stamped away on it. No ink, no mess! And when the playdoh was full of shapes, they mashed it back up, rolled it out, and stamped away again. This kept them entertained almost the entire meal. They even took breaks from their meals to go back to their stamps and playdoh. The only real distraction was when they brought out B's birthday cookie and ice cream. Playdoh doesn't even stand a chance when up against ice cream!
We'll definitely be packing the Playdoh and stamps for our next Mortons' trip. Will Playdoh be enough to get us through a 3 hour meal? We shall see....
We got home just in time for baths and to skype with Madison. The girls were very excited to wish their cousin a happy birthday and did quite a bit of showing off too. They were wound up (from the ice cream and cookie) and Annabelle continued to sing happy birthday to Madison long after the call ended.
Happy Birthday, Miss Madison!
I ended the evening tryng to get caught up on the last season of Dexter. Everyone was asleep in the house and I FREAKED myself out. I know I'm a big scaredy-cat so I don't know why I do such things! I have about 4 more episodes to go and will probably not sleep for 4 months but it's a really good show. Let me stress, it's a really good show!
