Diane and I took Annabelle for a trip down memory lane. My memory lane that is. All new memories for Miss Annabelle.
The morning was spent at the Columbus Zoo. It's an amazing zoo. Nationally renowned. Better than the San Diego zoo according to the Doult's. (I don't know about them sometimes). It has a theme park feel rather than a zoo. It really was fun, as much as I like to give them grief about Ohio. It was hot and humid and Annabelle wore her flip flops. Humidity and plastic straps don't mix and she got some nasty little blisters. She did "Man Up" as Diane so elequantly put it to her. We slapped a few band aids on her aching feet and she was good as gold.
We took Annabelle by the house where I lived. I believe this was Poppy's favorite house. E-V-E-R. It's located on the Muirfied golf course. Home to the Memorial Golf Tournament. When the girls are much older I will share the stories with them about being chased off that golf course by security for vandalizing the sand traps. When they are much older. We had lunch at Bogey Inn. One of my family's favorites.
After lunch we visited the Morgan House. My mom's favorite! It's a little house filled to the brim... overflowing...busting at the seams with trinkets, pictures and home decorations. It's a crafty dream! I asked Annabelle to please keep her hands to herself. Such a challenge for a 3 year old. She did pretty well and was rewarded kindly with gum. Inside there is a wonderful, tiny, little cafe that has high tea and the best french onion soup. Some day I would love, love, love to own a shop like this with YaYa. Some day....
Our next stop was the infamous guardrail I smashed into with my dad's car when I was 16. Isn't it wonderful having friends who remember EVERYTHING?! No memory left unturned this weekend.
Robert joined us for dinner at Donatos . Delicious pizza! We ended our day at the Westerville 4th Friday Festival. Ice cream, music, a puppet show. Annabelle even pet a snake. We had a fun filled day and were worn out!
