pillows

I have always wanted to learn how to sew. So I did. And I like it. No, actually I LOVE IT!

I found a wonderful woman who lives in a nearby neighborhood who teaches young kids to sew and she took pity on me and gave me private lessons.

She taught me the fundamentals - how to read a pattern, how to thread and actually use a sewing machine, how to sew on buttons, how to sew on a zipper, etc. Now, my creative juices are flowing. I can sit for hours (if I had hours to waste) and sew, sew, sew. It's creative and a bit mindless but I like knowing when I'm done that I've accomplished something and I did it with my own two hands.

I bought myself a sewing and embroidery machine. I've already spent too much on this new hobby, but it makes my heart happy and sometimes that's worth a few extra bucks.

I made these pillows for my girls and they sleep with them every night. They carry them around the house. Annabelle told me it's her favorite and told her daddy that "mommy made this with her hands". Ahhhh, my heart is happy and money well spent.
