hair today, gone tomorrow

I was on the phone with my sister and it was quiet. Way too quiet for a 3 and  4 year old. One might think that a quiet house is a good thing. One would be wrong. Very very wrong. I hung up the phone and Gwyneth walked up to me with a big smile on her face and a missing chunk of hair. She asked me if I liked her hair cut and if she wasn't so darn proud I would have burst into tears.

They are never allowed to play with scissors without being supervised. I have told them hundreds, maybe even thousands of times that scissors are for paper and absolutely nothing else. Especially not hair! The scissors are usually stored in the top of the closet and they only get them when I can supervise. They were put away in a craft bucket by mistake and my girls took the opportunity to give themselves a trim while I was distracted.

Gwyneth's hair got chopped off at the bottom. Nothing that can't be fixed. It will still be long. Annabelle did not fair as well. She has a bit of a mullet. Both sides were chopped. The front middle is still long, just really short sides. I guess it's more the making of a mohawk than a mullet. I think it will be lots of ponytails until this grows out.

I love that my girls have long hair. I'm a bit attached. I was almost in tears and then B walked down and saw the drama and thought it was H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.!! He convinced me it was a right of passage and that we just had to laugh and it would grow back in no time. Ok, he's right, but I do have to admit I teared up as I cleaned up all that hair....

I took the girls to dancing school and then we spent the evening at the pool. When their hair is pulled back and soaking wet you can barely even tell.....

Annabelle's new trick - back float and then going all the way under.
