Gwyneth was able to invite a few friends to our neighborhood pool to celebrate her birthday. Unfortunately the weather was not in her favor. It was overcast, chilly, rainy and I was a bit nervous that the gathering wasn't even going to happen.
She's such a great spirit and never ever complained. I told her we probably wouldn't be able to swim. She said "that's ok". I told her that her friends might not come because it was too rainy outside. She said "that's ok". I told her that we might have to sit inside and watch the Tinkerbell movie instead of playing outside. She said "that's ok". I told her it might just be her, me, her dad, and sister and a ton of cupcakes. She said "that's ok".
I didn't want her to be disappointed but she had nothing to worry about. Her friends showed up and were so sweet. They didn't care about swimming they just wanted to celebrate with her. We had pizza and cupcakes and they chased her around until the pool finally opened. They swam and swam and I took an endless line of kiddos down the slide.
We got home and I apologized. I told her I wished the weather would have been better and not crashed her party. Of course, she said "that's ok". She's just a cool kid.
I distracted them this morning from the weather and party anticipation with a $1 movie. We saw Happy Feet 2 and although there were not princesses they do enjoy a movie that makes them get down and boogie! And really, what's a movie adventure without a tiara???
