We had a 6 am flight to Chicago which meant we were all up and out the door by 4 am! The girls seemed so sleepy so we thought they'd surely nap the entire way. Nope!! They were very well behaved but didn't sleep a wink. Rock Stars!!
Buckled in and ready to go (this move violates FAA flight safety standards by the way...something about only one Meyer baby per seat!) Gwyneth rode on my lap for take off and landing, but the girls enjoyed being buckled in and having an early morning snack together.
The girls are getting easier (not easy, but easier) to fly with but Annabelle did yell during take-off "WE'RE TOO HIGH, WE'RE TOO HIGH!!" and about 30 minutes later informed us "ok, I'm done now!". Luckily the plane was only half full so we had plenty of room to spread out and attempt to distract the girls with food, toys, and movies. Oh, and I felt so silly taking the girls through in their pj's but I wasn't messing with waking them and dressing them on the way to the airport - teeth brushing was it. It turned out so great not messing with shoes and socks and dresses they went home in pj's too!
We received a very warm welcome when we arrived in Chicago. My mom and Maeva picked us up at the airport and we stopped at Portillos for lunch. Delicious!! That hot dog is what dreams are made of and will haunt me when we return home. Oh why, oh why can't Colorado have this wonderful food?!?!
We spent the afternoon at my mom's house letting the girls play together. Even my Grandma joined us from St. Louis for the weekend. Annabelle decided after lunch it was time for her to take a nap so then it was just two little girls....
Gwyneth NEVER took a nap! That's right, up at 3 am and never went down for a nap. She was so excited to spend time with her YaYa that sleep wasn't even an option. I couldn't believe it.
I was a little nervous leaving my mom and Grandma all alone with the 3 girls especially since my girls' schedules were so out of whack and Gwyneth never even napped, but my mom insisted! Madison and Auntie Becky came over to visit and help out with the little girls and off B and I went for a night in the city. We met Cathleen to celebrate her birthday and had dinner at Carmine's, my all time favorite Italian restaurant in Chicago. First Chicago dogs, now cavatelli arrabiata - Heaven right there in the Windy City!! I'm so glad we had the opportunity to meet up with Cathleen. It was so great to see her! The girls had a great time and B had a fabulous night on the town.
